About this Blog(ger)
Many years ago, I wanted to launch From the Left Bank of the Potomac as a syndicated radio vignette series, but friends in the broadcast business convinced me stations would be unlikely to pick up material with an avowed liberal bias. So I put the idea on the shelf and got on with my day job, which was and is helping labor unions and allied non-profit organizations compete with employers, multi-national corporations and right-wing organizations in the war of words that daily shapes our lives. You can see what we do at www.abernathy-associates.com.
I’m a writer by craft, and in 2006 I decided to begin a parallel career as a fiction writer and a freelance columnist. I took From the Left Bank of the Potomac off the shelf and I’m using it as a creative umbrella under which visitors can read my rantings on current affairs, and occasionally sample my short stories and excerpts from my novels (one completed, two under development).
From the Left Bank isn’t a blog and I’m not a “blogger” in the conventional sense, although I’m a big fan of the blog world and its creative inhabitants. Rather, I write under my own name and post original commentaries, alternating between labor, politics, economics and sports. I try to avoid things the mainstream media and bloggers are beating to death and explore the hidden nooks and crannies of current events. I promote FLBP by way of my personal Elist and through infrequent internet advertisements and news releases. I post all comments that are made, pro or con, except those which are lewd or vulgar.
If you’re an editor, reporter, columnist, producer or blogger, you may republish or link to all or parts of the commentaries without compensating me — just give me a credit and note my internet address www.rayabernathy.com.
If you’re an individual reader, please forward or copy commentaries you like to your friends — it’s the biggest way my readership grows and I appreciate it.
If you’d like to unsubscribe from my Elist, just punch “reply,” then type “please release me let me go” in the subject box, and punch “send.”
If you want to communicate with me personally, or add your name to my Elist just send an Email message to ray.abernathy@gmail.com.
